Professional career

Fabrizio is Of Counsel at BAYLOS. Before that, he was a founding partner of FJF Legal, partner at SALVADOR FERRANDIS IP LEGAL, and partner and Director of the Spanish office of BARDEHLE PAGENBERG; he also worked as an associate at the JABOCACCI & PARTNERS law firm in Madrid. He is a lawyer and a Spanish Patent and Trademark Attorney, as well as an authorised representative before the EUIPO for European trademarks and designs. He advises his national and international clients in all matters relating to intellectual property, unfair competition and new technologies, involving various business and industrial sectors, such as fashion, entertainment, music, e- commerce, food, advertising, telecommunication, chemistry, energy, automobiles and sport nutrition, among others.
As a lawyer specialised in these areas, he has participated in major national and cross- border lawsuits in recent years reported in national and specialised press. In addition, as Spanish Patent and Trademark Attorney, he manages important IP portfolios around the world and specialises in registration strategies and in feasibility studies on trademark registration and use. His professional activity also includes consultancy on contracts and pre-lawsuit matters.

He regularly publishes articles in international Intellectual Property journals and is an author and co-author of books, including “Practical Compendium on Industrial Property Protection” (published by LEX NOVA Publishers in 2012) and “Design Protection in Europe”– I and II (published by CARL HEYMANNS VERLAG Publishing House in 2006 and 2007), among others, as well as of several academic articles on this field.
Since 2012, he has been an editorial board member of the INTA international scholarly journal on trademarks (Trademark Reporter®) and is currently a Senior Editor and a Co- chair of the Books and Commentaries Review Subcommittee of that board.


He has been an IP lecturer for the Masters’ Degree in Innovation at the EOI Industrial Organisation Business School (Madrid) since 2012. He has been a visiting lecturer in the Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and New Technologies at Alicante University (Magister Lvcentinvs) and has been a guest speaker at national and international conferences, as well as at many symposiums on the field.
He has participated in several international projects as an expert on intellectual property matters, including, among others, in 2010 (Cartagena de Indias – Colombia) and 2011 (Montevideo – Uruguay) to give training courses to Latin American judges and prosecutor; in 2012 as an independent expert to advise on matters of free trade agreements (Thailand-EU Cooperation Facility – Phase II (TEC II), Policy Dialogues Support Component (Activity Code TRA-5): Analysis of Implications for Thailand of a baseline scenario where Thailand does not participate in an FTA with the EU when other ASEAN members enter into an FTA with the EU and analysis of potential implications of Thailand negotiating and implementing an FTA with the EU); and in 2015/2016 to give training courses to trademark and patent examiners at the Jordan Trademark and Patent Office (Capacity Building for the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply within the Framework of the EU-Jordan ENP Action Plan/ EuropeAid/134021/D/SER/JO).

He has given courses and presented at conferences, both nationally and internationally, to private and public bodies, as well as to professional associations.
