Carolina Segade

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Carolina has been a partner at BAYLOS since 2022. She previously worked at Cuatrecasas for more than 8 years at the IP/IT/E-Commerce Department of the firm. She also worked for 4 years as in-house legal counsel at the legal department of “la Caixa” Foundation, among other professional experiences. She has extensive experience in intellectual and industrial property (trademarks, copyright and neighbouring rights, inventions, designs, domain names, etc.) and related areas (advertising, image/publicity rights, consumer regulations, unfair competition, etc.) comprising general advice and both litigious and non-litigious practice, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial and IP related agreements: service provision agreements, distribution, franchise, agency, license and assignment agreements, research and tech transfer, releases, collaborations, sponsorship, NDAs, confidentiality agreements and data related contracts/policies, T&Cs, coexistence and settlement agreements, etc.). She has also provided IP related advice in the framework of M&A transactions and due diligence processes.

She has advised clients of sectors as diverse as clothing, food & beverages, hygiene and cosmetics, art & museums, technology, leisure and entertainment, media and audiovisual production, pharma, among others, with extensive experience in protecting and defending the IP portfolio of top tier companies.

She has also provided services as legal translator for customers such as the European Court of Justice.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and Master’s in Business Law – ESADE (1999-2004)

  • Master’s in Publishing (IP) Pompeu Fabra (IDEC)  (2004-2005)

  • Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) (Chartered Institute of Linguists – IOL)  (2011))
