Sergio López

PROFESSIONAL CAREER:

Sergio López joined BAYLOS in 2022. He previously worked as a trainee in the European Patent Office (EPO) and then worked as a legal assistant at the Fifth Board of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

He has extensive knowledge of the European (EPC) and international (PCT) patent systems due to his extensive experience in legal matters at the EPO.

In addition, his experience as a legal assistant at the Board of Appeal of the EUIPO has given him in-depth knowledge on European trade mark case law and the drafting of decisions regarding all types of absolute and relative grounds according to the European Union Trade Mark Regulation.

His professional practice currently focuses on drafting defence and opposition documents before SPTO and EUIPO proceedings, as well as on legal patent matters.

Segio has also occasionally led courses aimed at professionals on Industrial Property. These are specifically courses focused on the national and European trade mark system.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Alicante (2016).

  • Master’s in Intellectual and Industrial Property (Magister Lvcentinvs) from the University of Alicante (2019).

  • Course in international conflict mediation and resolution (2019).
